Meet the team

Head of Asia-Pacific

I shape our growing research programme across Asia-Pacific and manage the analyst teams in our UK and Singapore offices. I present at industry events and deliver customised projects to help clients meet their business challenges. I spent seven years at Tesco, working in site location analysis, regional and store development strategy.

Specialist area of retail in Asia: I focus on regional trends, generated from my regular and extensive travel to over 15 markets across Asia. I combine this with local market knowledge I’ve built through collaborative retailer relationships and primary research.

Programme Director

I head up our Singapore office and lead our research programme with a focus on China. With more than 15 years of experience in research and marketing, I help businesses understand the market dynamics and achieve their strategic objectives. I also share our knowledge through industry forums, national and international press frequently.

Most memorable retail innovation I’ve seen: payment enabled by facial-recognition technology. It was done so fast, I couldn’t even take a photo of it!

Senior Retail Analyst

I focus on trends in Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, India and Cambodia. My speciality is the role of discounters and supermarkets in the Asian grocery market. I have a background in consumer research and I’ve worked for Unilever, Millward Brown and Suntory across Asia. I’m based in our Singapore office.

Most likely to be found: exploring in a food hall – experiencing the sights, sounds and smells, and trying out everything with a bunch of friends.

Senior Retail Analyst

I deliver research covering Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, India and Sri Lanka. My responsibilities include providing insight on traditional trade and growing our relationships with key retailers in Asia. I’m experienced in brand management, channel development and marketing, having worked for Kerry Ingredients, Coca-Cola and Heineken. I’m based in our Singapore office.

Favourite store I’ve visited: Hypercity in Mumbai, India. It’s an impressive modern retailer with a wide range of fresh produce. And a special tea concession with over 50 types of leaves and blends.

Senior Retail Analyst

I track the latest industry trends developing across Asia, concentrating on Japan, China, Hong Kong, Macau and Pakistan. Convenience retail is my passion. I have vast FMCG research experience, delivering presentations and training to major companies and retailers within the sector.

Prediction for the future of retail I’m most excited about: seeing online giants like Alibaba and moving offline and driving the transformation of mom-and-pop stores.

Senior Retail Analyst

I provide insight on retailer strategies and industry trends in China, South Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan and Bangladesh, as well as lead our innovation and drugstore workstreams in Asia. I have worked with both retailers and manufacturers in the last 10 years on shopper insight, growth strategy and category management projects. I have a background in management consulting, with experience in qualitative and quantitative research gained at GfK and dunnhumby.

Favourite market to visit and why: my favourite market to visit is China. It is quickly becoming a cashless society where grocery retailing is being redefined. The line between online and offline is increasingly blurred through innovative multichannel initiatives.
